چکیده

This paper extends the standard root locus technique to systems with saturating actuators. This is accomplished by introducing the notion of S-poles, which are the poles of the quasilinear system obtained by applying the method of stochastic linearization to the system with saturation. The path traced by the S-poles on the complex plane when the gain of the controller changes from 0 to ∞ is the S-root locus. We show that the S-root locus is a subset of the standard root locus, which may terminate prematurely at the so-called termination points. A method for calculating these points is presented. In addition, the issue of amplitude truncation in terms of the S-root locus is investigated. Finally, an application of the S-root locus to hard disk drive controller design is presented, and it is shown that this simple technique results in a controller that compares favorably with those designed using more sophisticated approaches.

Objective: The present research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of group reality therapy based on choice theory on responsibility, locus of control, and dose reduction of agonist drugs in substance-dependent individuals under maintenance treatment. Method: The research method was quasi-experimental with a pre-test, post-test, and follow-up design with a control group. The statistical popula...

Convergence Analysis of Active Noise Control Systems Using Root Locus Theory

This paper applies root locus theory in order to conduct a new convergence analysis for the stochastic FxLMS algorithm, without any simplifying assumption regarding the secondary path. The main steps to sketch the root locus of the FxLMS adaptation process are developed. Using the obtained root locus plot, the upper bound for the adaptation step-size beyond which the adaptation process becomes ...

Phase-Root Locus and Relative Stability - IEEE Control Systems Magazine

n this article, a new graphical tool called the phase-root locus is introduced. It is the dual of the conventional root locus, and indicates the motion of closed-loop poles in the s-plane as phase is added to the open-loop transfer function. The root locudphase-root locus plots will be shown to facilitate destabilization diagnosis, which may help determine what part of an unstable physical syst...

Root loci design using Dickson's technique

Traditional techniques for determining the root loci were developed by Evans. Given the characteristic equation {1 + ( ) ( ) = 0}, Evans root locus method requires the magnitude of ( ) ( ) to be equal to minus one and is well established for determining the pole locations as the system gains are changed. In this paper, nontraditional techniques for developing the root loci of control systems ar...

Natural Frequency and Dynamic Analyses of Functionally Graded Saturated Porous Beam Resting on Viscoelastic Foundation Based on Higher Order Beam Theory

In this paper, natural frequencies and dynamic response of thick beams made of saturated porous materials resting on viscoelastic foundation are investigated for the first time. The beam is modeled using higher-order beam theory. Kelvin-voight model is used to model the viscoelastic foundation. Distribution of porosity along the thickness is considered in two different patterns, which are symme...
